12.07.08 All is not quiet on the Western Front.
Even though your faithful webmistress has been slacking off, Troy hasn't been. This past week SWEETHEAD played their first show. From the blog that was posted on their myspace, the show was scheduled at the last minute to help out Sean Wheeler's new band. They were a smashing hit and of much demand. Please send pics if you were so lucky to be in the right place at the right time.
While we are on the subject, SWEETHEAD are planning a few shows in December, one of them being the Buddyhead Xmas Party. The annual event will take place on December 21st 2008 @ 8pm. So if you are in LA that night, go show some love at the Hotel Cafe (on a side note, should you want to buy us at MisterEnemy.com a holiday gift, we accept plane tickets).
Also, for a VERY good reason, the debut album has been pushed back to an early 2009 release. Stay tuned. Things are getting good.
For those of you who want to know a little more about SWEETHEAD, the lovely Serrina Sims has agreed to grace us with an interview in honor of the new album. We have most of the questions but if there is something you think we might have forgotten get in touch and send it in. If we like it, we will ask it. Thanks to her for being so awesome.
The Trizzler appears on the new Eagles of Death Metal album, Heart on. Everyone we have talked to says it is their best album yet. So go buy it.
More updates on all of these and more, over the next few weeks.
QOTSA may have been out of the limelight for a few months but these guys have not been taking a break. They did not go to the beach when they got home from touring, they went into the studio. From what we hear, Stone Age fans can be expecting not one but three releases in 2009. Box set of the Desert Sessions, Remastered version of self titled, and Desert Sessions 11 & 12.
A NON-TVL related post: On November 25th, Pop Up Records released The Nurse Who Loved Me: A Failure Tribute. Normally, we would not advertise a project that Troy himself had not been a part of (or endorsed, as far as we know) but we are for supporting a good cause. This record fits in that category. Not only will you get to here some of Failure's greatest songs, done by some pretty cool bands, but also all proceeds will be donated to VH1's Save the Music foundation.
07.21.08 It is busy in the world of Troy.
ENEMY posted a blog saying that the guys were taking a break to focus on other projects but that they would be back soon.
SWEETHEAD has announced that we can expect their debut album soon and a tour to follow. It will begin in the UK then spread to yall Euros shortly after. Stay tuned for updates on that.
Recently, we were informed about the passing of an amazing musician, Natasha's Schneider. There will be a benefit performance scheduled for August 16th to help with the costs accrued during her illness. Go to Ticketmaster for tickets. If you can't attend please go to www.natashashneider.org

05.12.08 MySpace becomes a happy home for SWEETHEAD and Mr.E.
So as many of you are now aware, the project that we were hinted at by Mr. Nappi (but at the time was in its infant stages) has officially come to being. SWEETHEAD is a project with Serrina Sims (vocals), Eddie Nappi (bass), Norm Block (drums) and of course Trizzle (guitar). From what little we have heard, we here at Mr.E are more than impressed. Tour and album expected later this year...start saving some cash, you won't want to miss it.
We have also joined the MySpace "a place for stalkers and bands" community. So come friend us!
In one of the new interviews we have posted over in the Interviews section, Troy tells us that the new ENEMY album has been written but he has not had a chance to record it. So YAY for some definite news on that! We are giddy with ANTISIPATION.
04.18.08 The tour continues.
QOTSA have officially finished another leg of the never ending Era Vulgaris tour, having just completed a trip to the land of the Aussies. They embark for Canada within the next few days and then back to Europe for the festival season.
The Atlanta show for May 17th has been canceled. Just FYI!!
04.13.08 A little note from Sean Wheeler
I know that some of you have noticed that if you find yourself in the Mr.E Exclusives section that there is a new interview with Captain Sean Wheeler of Sun Trash, Throw Rag, and Charlie Horse. What you don't know from that interview is that after talking to him at a show last night (and he is really a super cool guy that you should all meet) Troy is half done mixing the new Sun Trash album. It should be coming out this year and there is a vinyl single possibly in the works.
A person close to the band has informed us that the ENEMY album is still in the works and for us not to get upset that we haven't heard anything about it recently.
03.08.08 Gutter Twins album released
We always make the jokes around here about how many projects our Troy-toy takes on. Well you can now own another one. He appears on 3 different tracks. Gutter Twins are on tour right now, unfortunately he is not with them.
01.12.08 Desert Sessions 11 & 12?
A rumor posted over at the RekordsRekords forum suggests that the next Desert Sessions is finally being recorded in our beloved Joshua Tree. With many special guests speculated to be in attendance. We here at MrE know that we can't wait to get our groove on. So guys and gals, do some drugs, make some music and put out the next volumes already!!!
01.09.08 Gutter Twins face some Masters of Reality.
Hope your holidays blessed you with a lot of drinky party time. And with that in mind, here is some news.
The Gutter Twins have posted a new song on their MySpace, whether Troy played on this one has not been determined, but we figured you would want to know about the preview to the album. It will be hitting the stores in the first part of March and will feature our dear boy.
A gossip bit about Masters of Reality came our way a couple of days ago. As many of you know, Mr. Van Leeuwen made an appearance on the last album and word is that when they return to the studio in February he might make a pit stop in the studio to lay down some notes. All we can say is that if this is really true (which would be very difficult to do with Queens on tour in Europe at the time), Troy, don't miss your flight... we are sure your guitar tech is talented but he probably can't fill in for you..
12.23.07 Happy Holidays from MisterEnemy.com!!
We here at MisterEnemy.com want to wish you a Happy Holidays! No matter what you are celebrating, make sure to surround yourself with those family members or friends that you hold dear.
11.23.07 Playing in the Gutter with the Twins
Our favorite handy man will be appearing on the new Gutter Twins album, set to be released on March 8. It seems that Trizzle has been busier than we thought over the last year... Sweet!
09.24.07 Massive update on all things Troy.
Gallery, Discography, Mister Enemy Exclusives, Links, Tour dates and
Interviews have all been updated. Yeah, we got un lazy.
08.15.07 It has been confirmed by the man himself!!
ENEMY is back in studio!, kinda. He was kind enough to let us know
this after a Queens show in Memphis. He is working on it while on the
road. That makes all of us very happy around here.
08.14.07 Sun Trash album being re mastered.
Some copies were sold while ST was on tour but while that was going on
Troy was re mastering the album. So expect something from that very
soon.
04.08.2007 THE NEW MISTER ENEMY SITE IS LAUNCHED!!!
But seeing that you are here we assume you knew that already.
Check out everything and get a feel for the new site that surfaced just in time
for a new album!!!
04.01.2007 New Gossip my friends!!!
We have reason to believe that our beloved T-Dog is going to be
making some appearances on other albums such as some new Mark Lanegan stuff.
Sun Trash is also hoping to release an album… Unfortunately we couldn’t get
this confirmed.
03.18.2007 Sun Trash gig canceled!!!!
Apparently due to a family emergency Sun Trash had to cancel their
show. We here at Mister ENEMY hope that it wasn’t anything serious. If ST
decided to do another show, you can count on us to post it here!!
02.28.2007 Sun Trash you are burning out my eyes
The beloved Blank has announced that Sun Trash will perform on St.
Patty’s day!! Here is the details:
St. Patricks Day (Sat.,March 17th)
The Scene
806. E. Colorado Blvd.
Glendale Ca.
----FATSO JETSON
-------SUN TRASH (featuring Sean
Wheeler of Throw Rag/ Charley Horse -and friends *cough,*cough)
----------DALI'S LAMA
02.26.2007 Do I hear collaborations??
Fuzhi posted over on the rekrek forum that according to danish
magazine Gaffa, who have talked to Homme, QOTSA will play several concerts in
Denmark, one of them at Roskilde Festival. The information has been confirmed
by QOTSA's manager.
"Era Vulgaris" will feature collaborations with Julian
Casablancas (The Strokes), Trent Reznor (Nine Inch Nails) and Mark Lanegan.
I think I just peed myself…
02.14.2007 What an “Era Vulgaris”
QOTSA.com posted today that the title for the most anticipated
follow up to the 2005 release Lullibies to Paralyze will be called Era
Vulgaris and can be expected on June 06, 2007. Just a few months away!!
YAY!
11.05.2006 Eddie likes cake
Troy has appeared in the recent Q & A videos over on QOTSA.com
and let us all know that there was no ENEMY tour because of Eddie’s love of
Betty Crocker. We can all hope that Eddie is staying away from the icing and
ENEMY will be back soon to rock our effin socks off.
09.19.06 In Headlines, Webmistress Goes Missing
and Troy Does Some Cool Stuff...
So,
yes, there has been slack in updates but it has somethimg to do with slack in
news.... TROY DO MORE!!! Come on, what kind of rockstar are you?
New
pictures have recently surfaced on ENEMY's myspace page.
Hopefully they are working on the new album!! Its nice to see some ENEMY life
finally. I know our readers want new music just as much as we do.
In
a video that recently was posted over at the QOTSA community,
Joey has said that the new album will be out early next year. So there is a
little Troyness to look forward to there. And as if almost on cue, probably
because it was, the Queens website has a new front page... so good things to
come there.
More
excitingly (is that even a word or did I just make it up? Oh well, who cares?),
in a recent interview over on the ENEMYonline forum, Eddie has
said that he and Troy are working with Sean Wheeler (Throw Rag) on a project as
well as two other projects, one that involves an "incredible Female"
singer. So maybe Troy doesn't really need to take on any more projects... Okay,
you're off the hook this time.
06.29.06 Troy Climbing the Vine... Again.
Troy
will be the guest DJ at The Vine Bar in L.A. this weekend, July 1st. Once again
this party goes off with out us. Check www.buddyhead.com for more
details on the Vine Bar.
05.22.06 Not A Rumor Anymore... ENEMY To Tour.
According
to a message from Jason on MySpace, ENEMY is going to open for SRC on their
summer west coast tour in July/August. Well will keep you posted.
05.18.06 Billy and Troy... together again
Mtv.com
brought us the bad news that APC is done for now. And where that may not be
Troy news related, the rest of this is. Billy Howerdel has been working on some
new material and "[t]wo weeks ago, Howerdel — who hasn't found a
record label for his forthcoming, yet-untitled project — teamed up with
Freese, Jonny Polanski ("The first bass player we had try out for A
Perfect Circle"), ex-APC guitarist Troy Van Leeuwen, and Freese's brother,
keyboardist Jason Freese, "to flush them out in a live rehearsal
situation." Of course, Howerdel's not sure his next band's going to
feature any of these players.'I have some people in mind," he said.
"There's a couple of people I've heard are looking to put a band together.
I have a list of people I'm thinking about using as soon as it's ready.'"
So I guess we will have to wait and see on that.
05.18.06 New Queens album in the works.
According
to the Eagles of Death Metal, a new Queens of the Stone Age album is in the
works. In a bulletin that they posted on their mySpace account, Josh was unable
to perform with them tonight in New York due to their recording. No other news
on this is currently available, but you know us, we will keep you posted.
Buddyhead.com speaks out
"Troy Van Leeuwen of
Queens of The Stone Age... yadda yadda yadda fame has his own signature guitar
now. It's made by Yamaha, and is kinda like a 335 with p-90's and a Bigsby.
It's rad. Troy gave one to Aaron, and then Aaron wrote a review of it for
Yamaha, but they bummed on it and wouldnt put it on their site. So here it
is... if yer in the market for a new axe, you can't go wrong on this bad
boy." Click Aaron's Review to read the
review. And do think that I was going to ask that very question on the next NIN
chat. Thanks Aaron babe!
Albums
in the Works
What kind of webmistresses would we be if
we didn't tell you that a presumably reliable source has let it slip that not
only is Revenge of the Triad back and working to release an album this year,
but our own beloved Troy-troy has also returned to the studio to keep ENEMY's
name fresh in our little minds. He is never one to disapoint but let us hope he
doesn't pull the song writting muscle and cause the next ENEMY release to sound
like NKOTB.
Troy
You Tease
It's time for our favorite word to come
popping up again...no not that one. We are talking about a tour. Our sources
report that in a possibly altered state of conciousness Troy might have
mentioned something to a friend's cousin's brother-in-law's cat's little bird
who informed a bush which then told us that when things wrap up for Queens this
year there may be an ENEMY tour, providing of course that his fans meet their
quota of hamster sacrifices*. (Or we might have just read it on a message
board)
*MisterEnemy
does not condone sacrificing hamsters, gerbils or any other small rodent to
appease the Dark Lord Troy.
Troy Climbing the Vine
Troy
will be the guest DJ at The Vine Bar in L.A. this weekend, March 11th. We are
glad that he was finally asked to perform, however, wish that we could go. So
please send donations to the "Let us worship the DarkLordTroy/Get drunk in
L.A." fund. Check www.buddyhead.com for more
details on the Vine Bar.
One of the Undeniable Mind Bombs of 2005
Enemy's
debut release Hooray for Dark Matter has been named one of the "undeniable
mind bombs" of 2005 by Amazon.com. It's about damn time they finally
caught up with what the rest of the world already knew... MrEnemy rocks it!
Win Troy's guitar
Register
at the enemyonline forum for a
chance to win one of Troy's guitars. Be aware that if you win as a result of
our graciously providing you with the link to do so, you will officially owe us
your soul. And don't think you can get off by offering us your first born, we
don't want it.
Rolling Stones
Queens of the Stone Age will be
opening for Rolling Stones. But you would have known that already if you had
looked at our Show Reviews and Upcoming Performances page. Pay attention next
time.
The Kangaroo Controversy
According to www.qotsa.com:
"There have been some rumors
floating around some reputable news sources recently that claim that one said
guitar player of the band Queens of the Stone Age ran off with irresistibly
cuddly kangaroo on recent Australian tour. We just want to set the record
straight- it wasnt Troy...so stop calling him and asking for rides in the
pouch. That is sick people. I mean really. Pull yourselves together."
However, an interview with At The Shore
went down like this:
"Q: The QOTSA website denies the
rumors that you recently had a fling with a kangaroo in Australia. We want to
know the real truth.
A: It wasn't a fling. It was a real
long-distance relationship. My baby is still growing in the pouch. It's a
touchy subject."
We at MisterEnemy want to know why the
management is pressuring Troy to keep his relationship underwraps. Do the big
wigs think the record buying public isn't progressive enough to accept love
between a man and a kangaroo? Personally, we think that is just insulting and
we applaud Troy for coming out in the open. Best of luck, you crazy kids.
Home
Alone
The word on the www.qotsa.com street is that
"[w]hile leaving for their European
tour someone forgot to tell Troy to go to the airport. He was last heard
to be at home trimming a lemon tree. The first show will feature Troy's
multi-instrumentalist cousin Francisco Van Leeuwan, who plays piano, lute, and
electric marxophone. Needless to say he will be missed until he can catch up
with the tour."
Perhaps when Troy finally does catch up
with the rest of the crew, he will serve up some ice cold lemonade to show
there are no hard feelings. And while we're on the subject, we really wish
Francisco would stop approaching the female fans and saying "Is that a
banana in your pocket or are you happy to see me?" It's just disrespectful
not to mention a little creepy.
An
Exhaustive Experience
www.qotsa.com would have us
believe that "Troy married his car, Jezebel, in a ceremony in Aqua Dulce,
California on January 22, 2005. Much to wedding goers horror, Troy
decided to have the honeymoon on site at the reception. The wedding party could
only gasp as he consummated the marriage with the unsuspecting Jezebel.
And sadly, Jezebel lost a tailpipe that day."
At press time, neither Troy nor Jezebel could be reached for
comment, but a source that wished to be unnamed assured us that Jezebel is
recovering nicely and Troy has since learned that she needs a man with a
slow hand.
