• Nature of these groups
  
  Neither of these groups are moderated, that means that any article you post will (should) appear on the group you posted to. If you want to post to both newsgroups, the best way to do that is to "cross-post", whereby you put both groupnames in the newsgroups header, separated by a comma
  (e.g.: Newsgroups: alt.archery,rec.sport.archery).
  Good newsreaders won't show you an article you read in one group when you are reading the other group. (a.o. WinVN and NewsXpress, do this)
  Rec.sport.archery was created to get away from the spamming and to make it possible for those not getting the alt.* hierarchy to discuss Archery on Usenet.
