I answer questions when I can but too many people post the same message to both so I might drop one soon.
There is still too much hunting related stuff that has nothing to do with the archery and not enough target archery for my liking.
Yamaha YTSL II, fastflight string, yamaha longrod and 2 short rods, counterbalance.
Arten Olympic sight.
Easton ACC 304 arrows
I am about to build my first longbow a three layer composite, I have always wanted to do this, but I suspect that I am motivated by cost. New Hoyt/Yamaha approx 1000 pounds uk, build a longbow approx 25 pounds uk, no contest :)
Started shooting at 12, I still have the fiberglass bow and Browning Fiberglass arrows that I got for that Xmas, my girlfriend is learning with the bow.
I shot with a forest prince for a while and did ok at club level, that broke and I didn't shoot again for about 10 years. I spent 4 months in the USA and managed to find a range there that would lend me equipment but then had another break of 4 years. Came by some cash about 6 weeks ago and bought the Yamaha second hand.
I now find that I still have all the bad habits and none of the good :( still I am really enjoying shooting and messing about with my kit :) My score is getting better with practice, but so slowly :(
I managed to delaminate the top limb of the YTSL while shooting :( I have aquired an old set of limbs but I suspect that I need to get a new bow...
Shooting is a great way to relax, I just hope I start getting better before I get stressed over the archery :)
Iused to think that the bow I used was at fault and better kit was all I needed. Now I have better kit and loads of bad habits from years ago, so I have no excuse for my shooting except me :( maybe the longbow will make me realise how nice the Yamaha is being to my errors!
