I started with archery 1976, as a 6 year old boy... and did it only as a game until 1983.
My mother - Gerda - was head coach of the senior Italian National Team until 1990, so I saw that she was travelling a lot through archery. This was one of the main reasons for me to become a good archer: see the world and meet people!
I was member of the Junior Italian Team until 1987.
From 1987 to 1990 I was in the Italian Olympic Team, beeing able to share extraordinary moments with archery friends all over the world, having a big fun with my team-mates, e.g. Andrea Parenti and Ilario Di Buó (best friends and first class archers) and Giancarlo Ferrari (the "big"-old man of the italian archery).
I was also selected for the Olympic Games in Seoul, but because of a small hole in my left eye (retina), I was kicked out of the team 2 weeks before the Games!!! - really a bad luck... but my place was taken by Andrea Parenti... good for him... nobody else would have been worth to take my place!
I love FITA and Field archery. I had the opportunity to compete in both disciplines with the Italian National team, at European and World Championships.
I won the FIELD World and European Championships 1988, placed 5th at the Junior Europeans 1987 and won the First Junior Cup.
I was 2 times in a row Italian Senior Champion - 1988 and 1989.
After 1990 I concentrate myself in eraning money, because archery - unfortunately - doesn't pay so much!
But I was lucky to find a job as Customer Service and Export Manager for a big italian archery wholesaler.
I was able to continue shooting after 1992, but had not the opportunity to reach my old training and result levels.
I am living in Germany now - working for Beiter - and I am married since march 1998 with Nicole Beiter.
Actually I am shooting in the German Bundesliga for the BC Magstadt, but I am not as good as my other team-mates, Andreas Lippoldt, Thomas Grantz and Sandra Wagner. Last year we placed 3rd!
The Bundesliga is a very exciting way to experience archery... I will be pleased to write you about it!
My best results:
FITA: 1296 - unfortunately I didn't shoot my 1300 star :-(
90: 301 - 70: 331 - 50: 330 - 30: 349
GFR: 329
NOR: 112
INDOOR: (I hate it!) 569 - ... that is because I hate it...:-)
There are too many thoughts on archery matters, as I would be able to write them down here.
But if YOU have some problems or questions, feel free to email me!
I am happy to answer all of your mails.
I love to speak and write about archery, to meet archers and have a good time.
Hope to meet you all soon!
