An introduction to Sagittarius

Sagittarius, founded in 1972, is the Archery Club of Twente University, located in the city of Enschede, in the east of The Netherlands.

Membership is open to students and staff of the University of Twente and students of the Hogeschool Enschede.

At the moment we have about 30 members, most of them joined when they started at the university.

Due to the precarious financial situation that students always seem to have, most members use a bow provided by the club, but several members do have their own equipment. Shooting standards vary from beginner to advanced.

The club has a 25 metre indoor shooting range, called Arcadia, which is located in the basement of the building of the Faculty of Chemical Technology. There is also a small workshop and a tea (and coffee) corner.

Barbecue 1 We have also a 90 metre outdoor range on the campus. When the temperatures are getting tolerable in the spring, we practice outside whenever we want to.
And we hold our annual barbecue there!

Sagittarius is also host to the 'Paraplu' league ("Paraplu" is Dutch for umbrella), a winter league between local clubs.

Every year, we organise a 18 metre indoor FITA (record status), foreign entries appreciated, please contact our secretary
