IP multicasting over ATM

An Analysis for Implementation Purposes

by Simon Oosthoek

This page contains the result of the work I did in the context of my final project at the department of Computer Science at the University of Twente. The project was intended to find out more about possibilities of running IP multicasting on top of ATM and possibly implementing it. My supervisors  were Fokke Hoeksema (TIOS), Pierre Jansen (SPA) and Richard Bults (LAB), which made the project a multi-disciplined affair.

Update 25 February 1999

In February 1999, I received a copy of the book "IP Multicasting, Concepts and Applications", by Marcus Goncalves and Kitty Niles. The authors refer to my thesis in Chapter 1 to explain the concept of layers in Protocols. I haven't read the book completely yet, so I can't say if there are more references....
The book is published by McGraw-Hill.

HTML

The HTML versions were created from the LaTeX sources using the LaTeX2HTML package (version 96.1f). I edited the HTML afterwards to create the final result.

Postscript

(92 pages, 1059756 bytes, 311189 compressed)

The postscript version is formatted for A4 paper. Extra margin space has been left for easy reading of a bound version.

LaTeX version

The LaTeX version contains the complete thesis, split by chapter. Several versions of the main file exist to allow easier conversion to HTML. The images contained in the document are all in Xfig 3.2 format (.fig) and encapsulated postscript (.eps) .
The following, about my presentation, is in Dutch

De sheets (powerpoint 97) en plaatjes van mijn afstudeerpraatje zijn ook beschikbaar.
