I would like to thank everyone who supported me throughout this project. In particular, I would like to thank Fokke Hoeksema, who stimulated me to be as precise as I could be in describing the complex protocols in my thesis. Through his enthusiam (before I started this project), my interests have been directed towards the subject of ATM networks and protocols and have resulted in me wanting to do this project.
I want to thank all those people who have read and commented on my work in progress. These people are the members of my committee; Fokke Hoeksema, Pierre Jansen and Richard Bults, but also Erwin van Eijk and Dave Munneke.
Thanks go to all the people working on/with the Linux-ATM package. They have provided me with both answers and information that has resulted in more questions on my part.
I want to thank all the members of the Sagittarius Twente, the University archery club. There I was introduced to the wonderful sport of archery. Both the sport, the members and the club have played a major part in my life during the time I was a student at the University of Twente. During this project, the evenings and sometimes weekends at the archery range comprised the some of most important aspects of my social life.
Another major part of my social life is the studentflat, ``Calslaan 3-1'', where I live on the Campus of the University. I thank every person and cat who has lived there with me for providing the friendly environment in which we live.
And last, but not least, I want to thank my parents and family for their support and everyone I have ever met or otherwise interacted with, for the influence they have had on me. I believe all of you had a part in helping me become who I am today.
